La Chambre Blanche (re-creation 2008)
By Ginette Laurin
La Chambre Blanche is a dance work set in a starkly imposing space that provokes a range of emotions from dark dismay to passionate frenzy. As the dancers are drawn into situations of intense vulnerability, their innermost beings are exposed, leaving their bodies no alternative but to surrender to imbalance and vertigo. Ginette Laurin has revisited her acclaimed original choreography, which was first created in 1992. In its latest incarnation, nine dancers evolve through the same space, supported by a new lighting design by Martin Labrecque and a new musical score by Nicolas Bernier and Jacques Poulin-Denis. After touring Europe, this powerful production premieres in Québec in the Cinquième Salle.
