Roadkill
CHOREOGRAPHERS: GAVIN WEBBER, GRAYSON MILLWOOD AND SARAH-JAYNE HOWARD
PERFORMERS: GAVIN WEBBER, GRAYSON MILLWOOD AND GABRIELLE NANKIVELL
A journey into the heart of agoraphobia and the loneliness of the Australian outback, roadkill, by the Brisbane-based collective Splintergroup, puts us into the minds of the three characters. The work explores their fears and perceptions, warped by the landscape and its dangers. To their worries are added urban myths, the disappearances of backpackers, thirst, love, mistrust and the harsh loneliness of the bush. Midway between road movie and thriller, roadkill is a terrifying trip into the world of a couple that has a breakdown in the middle of nowhere and discovers that the greatest danger is not their isolation. These different psychological states are evoked by an intensely physical series of gestures that constantly brush up against risk and real danger. Produced by Brisbane Powerhouse and Dancenorth.
